Career Must Haves for Creatives

Recently, I polled 100 college students (ages 19–22) about their career 'must-haves'.

Their top three answers?

⚡ Flexibility in how they work.

⚡ Dynamic, creative environments.

⚡ Security and well-being.

While these students aren’t a monolith, their answers point to a massive shift I am witnessing, and researching: EQ/EI needs an upgrade!!!

Standard emotional intelligence is not enough anymore. We are now entering the era of Strategic EQ (SEQ). As AI redefines the workforce, leaders must anchor their strategy in what I call the Inter-Trifecta. To be successful as a leader your focus will need to be on:

⚡ Inter-generational: Bridging the gap between legacy leadership and Gen Z (and soon, Alpha). If this isn't a strategic priority, you’re leaving money and talent on the table.

⚡ Inter-cultural: Navigating a borderless talent pool while fostering true internal equity.

⚡ Inter-technological: Managing the emotional friction between human intuition and machine intelligence.
The Reality Check: Leadership is no longer just about managing people; it’s about anchoring these three pillars.

⚡ Organizations: You are losing relevance for incoming talent. So many of them are pursuing entrepreneurship instead of employment.

⚡ Talent: The "unique skill set" required for an AI world is a moving target, and they are feeling unprepared.
